The Telangana Police will soon take up a verification drive of domestic helps following a series of property offences. Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy, addressing a face-to-face programme organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) here, said as of now, people can download the Hawk Eye app and file a request for domestic help verification.

“Previously we started a domestic help verification programme, but the public were not coming forward. Nevertheless, now as the request has started coming from the society, especially from women, we will be starting a verification drive,” he said.

The DGP also said the police would take up the issues of security guards with the management and ensure that only registered firms were operating in the city. “It is essential to check the background of security guards as they are tasked with ensuring safety. So, security agencies have to follow all the rules,” Reddy said.

Answering queries on the security of children and women in Telangana, and particularly in the city, the DGP explained the various measures being taken up by the State police. This includes Bharosa Centre and She Teams, he said. Listing out the priorities of the Telangana police, the DGP also said women safety was the top priority for the police, and pointed out that a Women Safety wing was launched.

Among other priorities were fighting cybercrime, traffic management and also uniform service delivery across the State irrespective of social public background, gender, community, region or religion. Sona Chatwani, FLO chairperson, moderated the interaction.
